What is a donor-advised fund?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a giving account held by a sponsor such as Fidelity Charitable or the National Christian Foundation. You give to the fund and take your tax deduction then, and later recommend grants from it to the charities you choose. Give from your DAF.

What's the difference between a pledge, a recurring gift and a planned gift?

A pledge is a promise to give a set total over a set time, such as $10,000 over five years, paid monthly, quarterly or once a year. It ends when the total is paid.

A recurring gift continues every month, quarter or year until you change or cancel it.

A planned gift is made through your will, trust or beneficiary designations, usually after your lifetime.

Is my gift tax-deductible?

Yes. Least of These Carolinas is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit (EIN 46-2326191), and gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We email a receipt for every gift. For a grant from a donor-advised fund, your fund's sponsor provides the receipt.

Can I give in honor or memory of someone?

Yes. When you give online, choose "In honor of" or "In memory of" and tell us who. We can let them, or their family, know about your gift.

How do I change or cancel a recurring gift?

Sign in at fuel.lotcarolinas.com with the email you gave with, or email info@lotcarolinas.com and we'll change it for you.

How do I give stock?

Tell us about your gift and we'll send you our transfer instructions for your broker.

Will my employer match my gift?

Many employers do. Ask your HR team, then request the match after you give.

Where does my gift go?

Into our programs for children in foster and kinship care: Bags of Hope, beds and baby equipment, Bridge Camp, Life Boxes and more. 90% of every dollar reaches children in care.
