Life Box
A personalized box of home essentials — sheets, towels, kitchen basics — for youth aging out of foster care as they head to college, a GED, or a place of their own.
What it is
Aging out of foster care often means starting adult life with nothing to set up a home. Life Box
exists for that moment — a box of real home essentials handed to a young person as they leave
care for college, a GED program, the workforce, or their first apartment.
What's inside
Every Life Box is built around one young person's actual list. Sheets, towels, a laundry basket,
cooking utensils, a cookbook — the practical things that turn a bare room into a place to live.
No two boxes are the same, because no two young people are starting the same chapter.
Why it matters
Youth aging out of foster care often face adulthood with no safety net and no one to call. A
Life Box sends them into their first place of their own with the basics to build a home — and
the message that they are not, and never were, on their own.
