Bridge Camp

A summer camp specifically for children in foster and kinship care across the Carolinas.

What it is

Bridge Camp is the one week of the year when kids in foster and kinship care can leave the
weight of the system behind and just be kids. It exists because traditional summer camps,
however well-intentioned, are hard environments for children carrying disrupted attachments,
inconsistent histories, and adults' expectations they didn't choose. Bridge Camp is staffed and
designed for who these kids actually are.

Why it matters

Children in foster and kinship care rarely get to just be kids. Bridge Camp gives them a week to
do exactly that — alongside other children who understand what they carry, without having to
explain it. For many campers it is the first time in a long time they feel like they belong.
