Christmas
Every child writes a wishlist; community members sponsor a wishlist and shop for that child's specific wants.
What it is
Christmas is our annual gift program and one of the most meaningful ways we serve children in foster and kinship care. Every child creates a personalized wishlist, and each list is matched with a sponsor who shops specifically for that child's wishes and needs.
The celebration culminates in a special Christmas event where children enjoy activities, games, and holiday fun while caregivers take part in a unique gift-wrapping experience. Caregivers are invited to write handwritten gift tags and work alongside volunteers who carefully wrap each present by hand. This allows caregivers to know exactly what their children will receive while preserving the excitement and surprise of Christmas morning.
Why it matters
Every child is known, every wishlist is unique, and every gift is chosen with intention. For children in foster and kinship care, Christmas can be a reminder of loss, uncertainty, or transition. By creating a personalized experience that includes both children and caregivers, we help families create meaningful memories and celebrate the season with joy, dignity, and hope.

Frequently Asked Questions.
Who can register a child for Christmas?
Licensed foster or kinship caregivers, social workers and GALs can register any child in foster or kinship care across our service area once applications are open - typically a few months prior to the event.
How do I sponsor a wishlist?
Sign up to sponsor a child when wishlists are released in early fall. You'll shop for the items on the child's wishlist and return the unwrapped gifts by the drop-off deadline. Don't want to shop yourself? Click here to let the elves do the shopping!
Can businesses sponsor multiple wishlists?
Yes. Many employers and church groups choose to sponsor multiple children each year. Contact our office to coordinate.
